Silver Linings Playbook

Initially I wasn’t fussed about seeing this one but other people whose opinion I trust told me it was good. It is good

The reason it’s good is because the people in it are good. Bradley Cooper, the guy from The Hangover is good. Robert DeNiro, who was once probably the greatest film actor of his time but who seems to have been riding on his reputation since 1995, is good. Chris Tucker, who gave such smugly annoying performances in Rush Hour and The Fifth Element that he made Pierce Brosnan in Mama Mia! look like Daniel Day Lewis, is good. CHRIS TUCKER!?

The really good performance though is from Jennifer Lawrence. Not the okay Jennifer Lawrence from The Hunger Games and X Men: First Class but the mesmerising Jennifer Lawrence from Winter’s Bone. I don’t know what it is about this girl (it isn’t just that she is pretty because I’m not sure I think she is) but when she is on fire (see what I did there?) she is excellent.

As far as the story goes; it’s alright.

Is this one for the kids?

No, it is a 15, presumably because of the swearing, the talking about sex and the dress that a ballroom dancer wears in one of the final scenes.
